What I’m Wearing ~ 05.29.15 {The Texas Floods}

This week was one for the record books, and not the kind of records you’re looking to hold! Texas has had what is now I am guessing the “Wettest May on record” after enduring years of drought we have had days and days and days of rain with extreme amounts of rainfall, not just soaking showers.  The rain is wreaking havoc on our state and leaving mass chaos behind with every storm front that pushes through.

Disclaimer: What I’m Wearing is in hopes inspiration for your closet, that I can give you some ideas from what I’m wearing. What fits you doesn’t always fit me. What fits me, doesn’t always fit you. So, we all know the style of jeans that work best for us, the brands of shoes we love, etc. I’m not a “linker” to buy all of these outfits here. Truth be told, a lot of my clothes are many many years old and I pick up things all around the place. I’m don’t update my wardrobe every season with the latest and greatest. I don’t have signed up for Pinterest, so if there’s something you like, you can “pin it” to save. Hopefully you’re just inspired, maybe by something you have and didn’t think about putting it together or maybe you are just looking for a simple accessory to add in and these posts can give you some ideas.

Monday was Memorial Day and I was up early to get a few things done before meeting some friends for breakfast, which is my favorite and was the 2nd breakfast outing of the long weekend!  I found this Small Town Girl shirt recently at TJMaxx for $9.99 and I’ve been seeing these shirts in boutiques for a while now, mostly at $25 and up! Leggings are from Target and the Nike In Season trainers I highly recommend for days on your feet. I wouldn’t workout in these shoes, but they are perfect for everything else all day long!

Tuesday morning I awoke to a major storm and at 5:15 I started seeing flood photos from overnight via Twitter and school cancellations were rolling in due to high water.  I received an Emergency Alert our schools were “on”, and 15 minutes later, an alert that we were “Off”.  So, it was another day at home.  I was paralyzed to the news, and didn’t get much done Tuesday watching the coverage of Houston. This was on the heels of Blanco river rising over 15 feet in one hour over the weekend in Wimberley, causing mass destruction to that small town..large houses completely taken off their foundation, cars and giant trees uprooted and washed down river like toys in a tub. People in Houston were stranded/abandoned cars overnight and here are a couple of pictures from the aftermath, you can see more online….

Wednesday was back to school and I had a school interview Wednesday afternoon. I’ve mentioned before I love black pants and sleeveless shirt, which also goes well with suit jacket when necessary.  Of course leopard added a little color.  It has been a while since I was in a suit. Nothing like interviewing for the job & being told afterwards you don’t meet the rules of years of teaching required! No worries, good experience and I know what’s meant to be will always be!  🙂

I have been on the hunt for a replacement pair of bubble-gum pink heels that were among shoes ruined from my storage unit.  However, decided to call off that search in favor of these white heels. They are Jessica Simpson and currently close to 1/2 off via Nordstrom! Arrived in the mail Wed, after delivery delay due to flood, and I had to wear them on Thursday!  Gray/gold/white is one of my favorite combinations for summer and I imagine these shoes will get lots of wear! Starting with Sunday!  (You can follow me on Instagram for #SundayStyle posts: Click Here).

Friday! The last Friday of the school year for our students!  As I left school today the skies had cleared from another day of torrential rainfall early in the morning.  However, there are small towns all around Texas who are facing mandatory evacuations over the weekend as rivers are expected to top out and flood additional places. Would you pray for Texas and Oklahoma?  So much damage in a week, so many lives lost, people still missing and rain is still in the forecast for several days to come…..

And the week in review…

Kids have 3.5 days to go. I have 5 finals to give and this year of “What I’m Wearing” will be wrapped up and summer uniform will take over…hair gets lighter, skin gets darker, drinks get colder, water gets warmer, nights get longer!

Blessings,

    Hi Angie… been hearing of the floods and waterworks in Texas – been keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Sounds like you're safe. Please be careful out there… Wish you could pass some of the water to California… Have a great week…
