Friday Favs

I haven’t posted a Friday Favorites in a while, so I’m linking up and sharing this week!

Navy + Leopard.
I love this combo. Even  though leopard shoes are usually black/gray-ish, they are a neutral and go with navy.  If you follow me on Instagram you have seen these posts of “bringing some color to an otherwise plain conference room”.

I had lunch with a sweet friend and her darling little daughter, who modeled these heels for us. I picked up these floral Guess pumps at Ross on a whim a couple of years ago and they are one of my favorite pairs of shoes!

If you live in the Houston area, you should head to Revival Market for their Honey Lavender Latte.  Delicious. And, if you’re not in Houston, I’m sure your town has a coffee shop that serves  a honey lavender latte. But, I can’t guarantee it will be as good as this one. Also, latte art is always so impressive to me!!

In the fall I was invited to a party at a friend’s house and she had a makeup artist there from Dolce & Gabbana. I have always struggled with finding the right color foundation and what seems to look right in fluorescent lighting of a department store doesn’t always translate well at home or outside.  I had my makeup done at the party, in a home setting, where I could see what it really looked like, and purchased new foundation and powder that night.  I have used the same bottle from December all the way through April and down to the very last drop.  While I’m usually a drugstore makeup girl, this felt like a big investment to me, but I did get several months wear and feel like you get your money’s worth. If you’re looking for new products, I would definitely recommend D&G. I purchased mine through Saks, but you can find it online and/or your local Saks/Neiman’s/Nordstrom, etc..

English Muffins.
For a long time I turned my nose up at English muffins. I never really liked them until I met Bays English Muffins. Have you had these?  They are in the refrigerated section of your grocery store and will change your mind about English Muffins. My favorite way to eat them?  Toasted as open faced sandwich with scrambled eggs, grated cheddar cheese, sliced avocado and sprinkled with pepper. I pretty much always have these items on hand, and this is a go-to dinner for me.

This is several of my favorite things:  sunshine, the pool, a good book, one summer flavored beer.
I just finished up Giddy Up Eunice by Sophie Hudson. If you’re looking for a good read on the friendships of women coupled with hilarious and endearing stories of the south, this is the perfect book.  I also recommend a Shiner Strawberry Blonde as you sit and enjoy your book poolside.  In a perfect world, this would be at a beach, but for now my community pool will do.

I feel like we are friends here and I can be candid.
The couch and my pup is one of my very favorite things in life. My schedule is pretty non-stop, and it is full of good things, but I do intentionally say no to things to be at home with my pup and to rest. #reallife

Shellac.
I love a shellac manicure. But, geez, having to go to the salon to get it taken off is such a hassle. I know, this is a #firstworldproblem, and I hope you realize, I’m speaking in jest. Enter Sephora’s Dissolvant Express nail polish remover. I put it on my nails like they do at the salon; little on a cotton ball and a little foil to hold it there.  After 10 minutes, the shellac was mostly off my nails. I used a wooden manicure stick and the polish came right off. A couple of nails needed a little longer. Also, this remover doesn’t have the strong acetone odor and left my nails NOT having been scraped on an ruined by the salon removing shellac. So, if you’re a lover of shellac manicure, you should hit up your local Sephora. I actually think I picked this up at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx on a whim, but it looks like Sephora still has it, packaged slightly different. #notanad

Of course Friday’s are my favorite, so here’s to the weekend and this being my last Friday to work, as we move to our “40 in 4” work schedule with Friday’s off for summer!
