2017 Every day. (10.29.17)

I love taking pictures, the every day, the mundane, the big, the fun, the celebrating, even the hard. Images I want to remember.  So, this year, I’m documenting my everyday. A photo a day for my FB/IG and then writing the stories of each on my blog weekly.

10.29.17

Sunday morning my nieces were baptized and as they declared it was “their best day ever“!  I loved getting to be “in the wings” with them and await their baptism and chat with them immediately after. It is extra special that they were baptized in the church I grew up in and where they have attended VBS for 5 summers and because of that asked Jesus into their hearts.  Two years ago my nephew was also baptized and these are quite possibly my very favorite moments as an Aunt.  We had a delicious Sunday lunch after and cake to celebrate these two special girls!

Monday night I was in between classes and scrolled through my Facebook to see this picture.  Seriously. I just wish I was laying on the couch watching Hallmark Movies.  I know I’ll be so  glad to have completed my MBA, but this semester is really trying me for endurance and taking all. the. time. for homework and projects.  I’ve not had an easy start this round, and hope  the rest of the semester will be smooth.

A fun bonus this week, a co-worker gave me some Erin Condren goodies! If you know me, you know I love a good planner, notepads and pretty much any other office supply. I am picky about pens.  This was a sweet treat this week! I can’t wait for my new Plexus planner to arrive to put this little pen holder in and use the zippered case too!  Hopefully that will save me from another water-logged planner.

Halloween!  I was invited over to a friend’s house, but due to my schedule this week and an out of town night for a conference, I had to decline.  A super fun highlight to Tuesday was opening up a box with the printed edition of the Sacred Holidays Advent Study, where I’m honored to have been a contributor.

Here’s the front of the book, from when I opened up the box!  If you’re looking for an Advent Study for this year, here’s a little treat for you to purchase the Sacred Holidays study.  Visit http://www.sacredholidays.com/shop/ and enter promo code ANGIE10 for 10% off! Act quick, so you’ll have it in time for advent to begin.

This day will go down in history! The Houston Astros won the World Series Championship and Houston has lost her mind celebrating in the best way!! This is the last out to end the game and name the Astros champions. We can’t get enough orange around here and the city has literally had a smile across her face.  This has been such a year of emotions for our city from Harvey to World Series Champions! What a dream!!

I didn’t even know about this, not a SI subscriber, but whomever printed this years ago  seems a bit prophetic as we did win and George Springer-Dinger is the MVP!  It has been so fun this week to see our ‘Stros honored and celebrated.

11.02.17

As soon as the Astros won Academy opened up and started selling World Series gear!  I posted on my Facebook “after party at Academy anyone?” and I had a few friends who went! This dear friend spent nearly all night at Academy in line for gear and picked me up a shirt!  I dropped in to grab it before work at just after 7am on Thursday. We are all punch drunk and giddy with Astros delight!

You know I switched shirts for the day, walking into work, still unbelievable that we’re World Series Champions!!

11.03.17

Thursday afternoon I left to head out of town for the night to speak at a conference on Friday.  Wouldn’t you know it, we got a day off work for World Series Parade and I was gone!?!?!  Ugh!  Never fear, I set the DVR for 3 channels to record the parade and after stopping to get Auggie and getting home, I hit the couch to relive the parade and celebrate the Astros.

I wish I could have been at the parade, but I was doing another thing I love, speaking about teaching students skills they will use in the real world through academic and Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. #equippingeducation is critical in our schools, and I love this topic.  Also, those pants? Picked them up on Thursday and declared them Astros victory pants, so I went ahead and wore them on Friday!

Friday night was lit for Auggie.  Just another night in his world.

One month.  I can do it. One month until this semester will end.  Whew.  4 weeks of homework assignments, a major marketing business plan and simulation project, a presentation, 3 tests and I don’t even know what else to go.  But, it will be over in one. month.  #amen

Oh my gosh, the parade was CRAZY! I was supposed to meet some friends there, but there was no way we could find each other in the madhouse, so I made new friends with everyone celebrating around me! Now I’m just ready for Altuve to be declared the American League MVP!

Katherine – I love that you made new friends and had the best time! I feel like Houston has had a big smile on her face these last couple of weeks!!

Happy Monday Angie! Congrats on the Astros’ win… my hubby is a Dodgers fan, so it was a somber night at our house… BUT he DID go to Game 1 in LA and saw the Dodgers win; going to the game was an item on the “to do” list. Hang in there re: school… only a few short weeks… Will be thinking of you and your fellow Texans after that awful shooting. Woof to Auggie!

Laurie – hope your husband has recovered, and so fun he got to go to a game! And, thank you!! I’m counting down to Christmas break and filling up with lots of quality time w/ family and friends! Hi from Auggie to your house! 😉
