2017 Every day. (10.22.17)

#write31days | Saturday Stories

I love taking pictures, the every day, the mundane, the big, the fun, the celebrating, even the hard. Images I want to remember.  So, this year, I’m documenting my everyday. A photo a day for my FB/IG and then writing the stories of each on my blog weekly.

I flew home from Orlando Sunday afternoon, on a ROUGH flight!  I haven’t been in turbulence like that on a flight in a LONG time. My friends said it was like riding Space Mountain again!  Except opposite. Because Space Mountain was AWESOME! As we flew into Houston, I couldn’t help but think about the water that sat over our city just under two months ago.  There were houses I could see with tarps on their roofs, several in a neighborhood, where tornados ripped through, and torrential rains that pounded roofs.  While it seems so much is “back to normal” the list of friends on my phone who have flooded homes hasn’t decreased, as rebuilding is far from over. But, the spirit of Houston is thriving, and we are #HoustonStrong.

Monday night was back to life, back to reality and class.  3rd to last semester of my MBA!! We got these Goodness Knows bars in our Trick or Treat parties at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party, so I tossed it in my bag for school. Goodness Knows I needed a good snack. Goodness Knows I needed a better week at class after a REALLY rough start to this semester.  Goodness Knows, these were delish!  Now, I need to find them to have on the regular!!

10.24.17

I had a water bottle mis-hap in my purse a couple of weeks ago, and the bottom of my planner got wet.  WAH WAH WAH.  And, now all the pages are bowed/wrinked.  UGH! And, I really liked this planner!! But, I had a goal this week, to earn a new planner with Plexus and I MADE IT!! So, a new planner for 2018 will be on it’s way to me!!

I also feel like it should be noted that I ate vegetables on Tuesday night. A huge salad.  After being gone, eating out, I was craving some green.  I love making a homemade salad and this week I had a rotisserie chicken so I’ve had Caesar and a cobb-style with cucumbers, avocado, hard boiled egg, apples, chicken, cheddar, craisins, sunflower seeds, and chopped walnuts.  YUM!

10.25.17

Wednesday night I was determined to finish this book!  I read most of it on my flight, but couldn’t finish Sunday due to turbulence! I hadn’t read any Elin Hilderbrand books, and this one was a good one.  It wasn’t totally predictable and two story lines in one.  I saw her Winter series recommended and might read those books over Christmas break. In the midst of studying accounting and reading marketing, I’m a fan of a good chic lit/light book for fun reading!!

10.26.17

I’m logging lots of hours in this chair/at my desk.  And, we play fetch from here too while I’m working.  This was early in the night, frog and crab were the toys of choice; but hedgehog, Mickey, and the halloween toys made an appearance too before I called it a night.

Thursday was glorious, and I had a fun work outing to the Bricklayer 500, a fastest bricklaying competition for both count and technical skills. We took students out to observe who are in a masonry program at a local High School.  It was pretty fascinating to watch how fast these guys laid bricks, they had an hour and most did over 500 bricks!!

10.27.17

A co-worker and I were talking the other day about her recent move and purging all.the.things because never do you realize how much excess until you move!  She donated a bunch of shoes to a local middle school, and then asked me if I wanted this Will bag.  I complimented her on this bag last year when she first had it, and I loved it!  Super fun treat to get at work today and thoughtful of my friend!  I had no idea what it even said on the back though!? How cute is this?  Dreaming of DIAMOND!  Because I believe that much in Plexus products and how they can change your life when you change your gut health!!

Friday night I watched the World Series ASTROS WIN at home and the little Auggie dog was super excited and extra snuggly.

10.18.17

Saturday morning I didn’t have to set an alarm. #amen And I woke up at 9:47 because little Auggie made the tiniest whimper. I headed out to see Melanie Shankle at her book signing for recently released Church of the Small Things and ran into a friend there too, so a fun Saturday! I’ve read all of Melanie’s books, you should treat yourself and read them if you haven’t; on motherhood, marriage and friends. Even though I don’t fit into two of those categories, you won’t feel left out when reading, you’ll be encouraged and learn something too! Along the way we’ve become real life friends and it’s fun to see friends living their dreams that start way back in our elementary school hearts!
