2017 Every day. (11.26.17)

I love taking pictures, the every day, the mundane, the big, the fun, the celebrating, even the hard. Images I want to remember.  So, this year, I’m documenting my everyday. A photo a day for my FB/IG and then writing the stories of each on my blog weekly.

Sunday I went to one of my favorite stores (for the second time, another story for another day) Warby Parker and picked out new glasses!  Hooray!  I love that Warby Parker glasses are reasonably priced, stylish and most importantly that every pair bought equals a pair donated to someone in need.  I have 5 pairs of WP glasses I’ve gotten over the years, so I pray the 5 donated pairs reached someone where glasses have significantly changed their life for the better!

Here’s what I picked out because I often get asked about my glasses…

Monday night I had class and when I get home around 10:15pm, Auggie always needs to be out of his crate for a while. This makes for a long day for me, and I selfie snapped this laying on my couch while he played fetch for a bit.

And, here’s the rest of the what’s going on…

11.28.17

I have logged A LOT of hours in this spot and usually Auggie doesn’t get in the chair with me. I guess he’d had enough on Tuesday and needed some attention. This is the last week of finishing up homework and projects, and I’ll be glad to spend some time away from this chair!! I will say I’ve certainly gotten my money’s worth from adding a monitor and keyboard to my desk and not only using a laptop!!

Lest you think Auggie doesn’t  get attention while I’m working, there’s usually about 5 or 6 toys at my feet we’ve played fetch with through the evening.  This particular night he had Humpty Dumpty out which sings the Humpty Dumpty song when “squeaked” instead of squeaker, but he also had a squeak toy near by and played it in concert with Humpty singing his song.  #distractedmuch

And, of course he still has to set that dog in the mirror straight from time to time!

After Thanksgiving I got my tree decorated and other decorations out. I LOVE having the tree turned on and the twinkling lights in my house.  My tree tells a story, ornaments from trips I’ve taken and mostly from nearly 15 years of ornament exchanges with my college besties.  So many of my ornaments tell a story and I can immediately remember what went on that year by the ornament. Without fail during the Christmas holiday break I’ll fall asleep more than once on my couch to the lights of Christmas tree and the Hallmark Channel! 🙂

Also on Wednesday, I made an adulting decision to cancel a trip to one of my very favorite events,  the National Finals Rodeo.  It just wasn’t good timing this year.  See photo above.  I’m really looking forward to downtime and having that downtime at home instead of on a trip. A couple of other factors contributed to this, but the main reason was I need less right now instead of more.

Thursday night my bestie and I went to the Ladies Night event at First Baptist Church where Melanie Shankle and Sophie Hudson spoke. If you don’t read their blogs and/or books, you should. They write as if you’re sitting on the couch having a conversation, you’ll laugh, likely cry, be encouraged and challenged over and over.

And, of course everyone needs an awkward Santa photo ….

Friday after work I took off to the 4G because a long time dear friend, Karrie, was coming into town to spend the night at my Mom and Dad’s for an event on Saturday. We usually only get to catch up face to face during Rodeo Houston so Friday night was a treat!  I sat down at the table at 5:30 when I got home and didn’t get up until we were headed to bed around 10:15.

Speaking of Karrie, I got to see another Kari on Friday at a meeting.  I lived with Kari during the week when I first started working in Houston, spring 1998, until my lease was up and I could move to Houston. Kari was also a great help to me when I was getting into teaching, and in fact the English position I turned down would have been in her District. Even though I turned it down, our paths still cross for work!

Friday night, when I was nearing home, the western sky in the country was really showing off!!

Saturday morning I headed back home early for one of my favorite Christmas parties…Pajama Breakfast.  If you know me, you know I love breakfast and getting to have breakfast with friends in Christmas pajamas?!  Perfect! I met my sweet friend Ashley through teaching, small world that she’s English teacher and that was what I was also certified to teach, but she is certainly gifted to teach English, and I am not sure I would have made it a year!! 🙂  She’s the best kind of friend, and we love lots of the same things!

How cute are these T’s we received as party favors? Have yourself a merry little Christmas! This will be worn a lot over the next weeks!

While the sunset was really pretty Friday night, the sunrise was beautiful on Saturday! I don’t really think I can pick if I’m a sunrise or sunset person. I love the dawn of a new day, but also canvas painted as the day draws to a close.

Don’t worry – Auggie was along for the ride, he surfs in the front seat for the entire trip, never sitting down!

This year is going quick! Hard to believe it’s December and I’ve nearly made this year of daily photos and weekly posts!
