#write31days | October 16

I have gone through many seasons of morning routines; getting up really early or sleeping until the last possible minute. The getting up really early was sometimes because I wanted to, sometimes because of my work hours and sometimes because of commutes. The sleeping until the last minute was because of a season of illness, working through my MBA with excessive late nights or most likely purely lazy.

Through all of these, the best seasons of getting up early are the days I get out of bed instead of pressing snooze and spend time seeking Jesus for the day ahead. This has looked different in various seasons of life, happens at different places in my house and includes a variety of what I did.

The thing that has never changed:  I’m always glad I made the time and remind myself to #doitagain.

I’ve read books like Jesus Calling, Bible Studies by various authors, passages of scriptures over and over, biography style books of Christian living from favorite authors.  I’ve spent time prepping to teach a small group or Bible study and I’ve some days spent time praying and journaling.

What this looks like for me (or you) isn’t so significant. And, what works for me (or you) will likely not be the same and change based on our seasons of life.

What matters is to meet with Jesus.  And #doitagain, and again.
It changes my day, week, month and year when I’m consistent in meeting with Jesus.

If I had to choose, I would say I was a sunrise person over sunsets.  Though I’ve been captivated by many a sunset.  There is something about the dawn of a new day.  The chance to start over. The newness of the morning.  And, the scriptures speak to that.

“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.” Lamentations 3:21-25 (ESV)

So, this I will call to mind:
And, because of these words I have hope.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.
His mercies are new every morning.
He is faithful.
He is my portion.
I will hope in him.
I will wait for him.
I will seek him.

In the morning.
And, then #doitagain.

Last year I committed to 30 days of Jesus Calling…read about that here. If you aren’t sure where to start, or what to even read, I would suggest Jesus Calling. It will change your days. Here’s another post from few years ago on establishing a morning routine, click here.

If you’re just joining in from #write31days, I’m so glad you’re here!
