#write31days | October 25

A couple of days ago I wrote about the little things and the song Dream Small, that some of our greatest moments are in the seemingly small consistent things we do every day. The ones that not many people will notice, or maybe are never even known.

But, what about our big dreams?
The thing that if someone asked us our wildest dream that we are almost too afraid to say out loud.
What if they think we are crazy?
Do you ever find yourself protecting that dream?

Big God-given dreams are one of the three concepts covered in the The Circle Maker.  And as related to our prayer lives, the circles we draw, define what our belief is in those dreams. This doesn’t mean praying big circles equals God delivering our big dreams.  However, it does equate to believing God can do big things, and praying big circles with that belief.  How or when he will answer our prayers is unknown.

“With God, it’s never an issue of “Can He?” It’s only a question of “Will He?” And while you don’t always know if He will, you know He can. And because you know He can, you can pray with holy confidence.” (The Circle Maker, p 75.)

Question to ask ourselves about the dream….Is the dream for my glory or God’s glory?
If it is rooted in self, it’s likely goal is to make our own name known and not the name of Jesus.

If those dreams are not within the will of God for our lives, they likely will not be answered.  But, if they are, and we are faithfully doing what God has called us to, no matter the outcome while still circling the dream, He is at work. I believe through this faithfulness God begins to shape, change, define, show us how our dream will look when aligned to his plans for our lives.

I love The Amplified version of the Bible, because of the extra explanation of verses. I’ve often heard 1 Thessalonians 5:34 claimed as God will do what he says he’s called you to.  Which I believe to be true. But, not in a “prosperity” sense. However, as the scripture says he will do it by making me holy, guarding me, watching over me, protecting me. That means what I can’t see, He can.  What answer I think I need might not be what it is, but he who is calling me to Himself will do it, even if I have to get refined in the process.  The dream will shake out of that refinement.

“Faithful and absolutely trustworthy is He who is calling you [to Himself for your salvation], and He will do it [He will fulfill His call by making you holy, guarding you, watching over you, and protecting you as His own]. 1 Thessalonians 5:24

But the dream that you quietly work away at, because you know He has called you to it and it will bring Jesus the glory?!  Oh how exciting to see when it launches!  It may be 1 month or more months than you could have ever imagined, but his eye is on you and me and he’s working for our good!  We have been given specific gifts and talents for this exact reason.  For His name to be known in all of our spheres of influence!  If you’re working toward that dream, but feel like you can’t see the forest for the trees, circle with big faith and #doitagain until you see it come to be! Don’t stop believin!

I’ve written about this once before from a little bit of a different perspective, and believe at times fear (doubt) has kept me from circling my dreams. If you’re looking for a resource to work through navigating dreams and calling for your life, I’d recommend Restless, by Jennie Allen.
