#write31days | October 30

Last night in my small group we were discussing Nehemiah and the calling he had been given to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. This was no small task and one of the things that stuck with me most in this week’s lesson was how he had been a caretaker of the plan God put in his heart. A big plan. One that he worked on and prayed on for months before he ever made it public.

Can you imagine such a plan?
Re-building a wall around a city.
Knowing it was what you are called to do.
Quietly working in the night to assess the current state and putting together the plan.
Trusting God enough to know that no one else needed in on the plan at that time.
Believing God that he would be enough when opposition came.
(you can read the story here)

What about the rebuilding in our lives when they feel broken? Maybe you can relate to these lyrics….

Every tear, every doubt
Every time you’ve fallen down
When you’re hurting, feeling shame
When you’re numbing all your pain
When you’ve lost your way
And feel so far away
Every fear of being loved
For who you are no matter what
When you’re stumbling, with each step
And you’re haunted by regret
And the darkness closes in

Can you imagine being rebuilt?
Fully restored.
Knowing it is the purpose and plan for your life.
Quietly working through the night.
Trusting God enough to know that He alone can clear the rubble from our lives and make all things new.
Believing God that he would be enough when opposition came.

Just like God gave Nehemiah a plan for his life and promised to come alongside him to see it to completion he comes alongside us to restore our lives from our own mess. There is no one else who will rebuild your life like Jesus will.

If we are working alone and striving to rebuild to according to the success of the world, the opposition will wear us down. Comparison. Doubt. Fear. Lies. They will cripple us.  We will quit. It is exhausting. But, God is rich with mercy and love.  For you.  For me.  He will clear the comparison, doubt, fear and lies and come alongside of you and me to rebuild and restore us.

God has a plan for you, and for me. His eye is on you, and me, he has a plan for your life and mine.  It might take us a while  to rebuild. Trust him and #doitagain the next day. Believe him and #doitagain. Circle your life in prayer to be restored. Broken will be beautifully restored.

You’re beautifully broken
And you can be whole again
Even a million scars
Doesn’t change whose you are
You’re worthy
Beautifully broken
Beautifully Broken – Plumb
